Carving the bottom

Here I'm starting to add 2" urethane blocks to the front forward of F0.

To sand the top, I used spray adhesive to attach 36 grit sandpaper to a nice straight 2x4. Once I got to the MKNG6 area with the metal higher than the bulkheads, I routered the 2x4 in the center and the metal plate just passed through.

Here the bottom of the fuselage is fully carved down to the bulkheads.

Starting to carve the sides.

After the sides were squared off, "Taking On" the corners as Nat says.

After lots and lots of looking, staring, tilting my head, sanding, calling it "good", sanding some more, tilting the head some more, finding more to touch up, I finally called it good.

I glassed over the alum skid plate. (actually mine is 1/8 stainless steel) and cut some releifes in the glass so it would lay down nice. After cure, I cut away just what was needed to prevent interference during retraction. This gives me the smallest opening.

I used a very thin blade to cut loose the strut. Then raised the nosegear and lightly sanded it with a straight edje. It gave nice consistent gaps.
