Canard Cover
11-11-2003

Well, I decided to do the canard cover now so I could carve it along with the nose top, up to F28.  Whether or not this is the right thing to do, I have no idea. It seems like it though. I took the day off work (hey, it WAS veterans day). And the next item up for bids was the nose top. Well, the top curvature is easy since you have the drawings and can make a template. But MY question was, what shape to give the corners. The shape is easy at FO, but what to do as you approach the canard, when the canard is not there? So I decided to put the canard in place and make the cover so as I sand the corners towards the top, I have something to transition to. When I walked in the shop on my day off, which was decidedly to be an extremely productive day, I realized I have no urethane foam. Hmm. Should I drive up to Spruce in Corona and pick some up? No, I hate driving. So, I decided to use styrofoam. I made a template (2) to match the curvature and made it oversize everywhere else. (I hope this works)

Complete with talking numbers.

This has to work right?
